Pak2000, manufacturers of innovative and cost-effective petrochemical packaging containers, forms an integral part of Astrapak Limited’s Moulding division.
Based in Westmead, KwaZulu-Natal, the specialised company’s main focus is on the automotive vehicle lubricants sector manufacturing a range of 200ml, 500ml, 1-litre and 5-litre extrusion blow-moulded high density HDPE polyethylene containers.
What sets Pak2000 apart from it’s competitors is that they supply a complete moulding service and pride themselves in customer satisfaction with great production flexibility on the plant to meet their customers’ expectations.
Pak2000’s approach offers a full spectrum service from product inception to the finished goods, working closely with each valued customer to best service their unique packaging requirements. The enthusiastic sales team liaises with the customer’s design team to work on a tailor made concept, incorporating technologically advanced design methods.
With the mould in place, production begins. Maintenance and quality supports the blow-moulding and printing process to ensure that each manufactured bottle is made without imperfections.
Quality control is paramount and the Pak2000 plant carries an ISO9001 accreditation status, which is recognised globally as the standard based on quality principles. They also adopt the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles, initiating best practices within the business with regard to visual performance, focus improvement and asset care.
One of the decorative solutions for the bottles is utilising the on-line labelling process, which applies pressure sensitive labelling (self adhesive) to the finished product; the other method is silkscreen printing using a six-colour process directly onto the bottle. Some bottles have a visi stripe to display measurement increments.
The end product goes through stringent tests to check that various elements of the bottle are up to standard; bottles are drop tested to check that lids don’t pop off on impact or that seals do not break, brake fluid tested to check that the print ink does not come off, and the adherence of the label on the bottle is also tested to ensure optimum branding for the customer.
Taking care of the environment is in line with Astrapak’s recycling initiatives, and the labelled bottles are fully recyclable. The silkscreen printed bottles are not fully recyclable, but the printed section is detached and used as landfill while the unprinted section is recycled.
Pak2000 also offer a generic range of bottles in the 200ml, 500ml and 1-litre range in any colour and any print.
Astrapak ensures that their client’s premium product is packaged to the highest quality standards. Find out more about Astrapak’s Moulding Division here: http://www.astrapak.co.za/astramoulding
