Food safety is becoming paramount in today’s world and it no longer only relates to what we eat, but just as important is the packaging in which what we eat is contained. Astrapak’s Plastform, part of Astrapak’s Forming division, was recently awarded the highest accolade when they scored 100% for their Food Safety System Certification 22000 (FSSC22000) audit. The top marks were achieved and their certification was maintained with no major and no minor findings during the audit and therefore deserves to be congratulated.

The Cape Town based plant achieved this feat with the help of two Consultants, Crystal Chandler and Retha Wareham, who both took on the additional responsibility of dedicating their time and skills to ensuring that the highest food safety standards were maintained.

Food Safety System Certification 22000 (FSSC 22000) is the certification scheme for Food Safety Management Systems. This certification scheme is developed as a response to the need of the international food sector to have an independent ISO-based food safety scheme for third party auditing and certification for their Food Safety Management System.*

Astrapak CEO, Robin Moore, congratulated Schreuder and her team on their successful audit. “It has been a key part of our turnaround strategy to raise the bar within the Group when it comes to quality accreditation and audits, with an unequivocal focus placed on safety and quality. This is a great result for Plastform and the Group and we are proud of what the Team has achieved.”

Going forward and to maintain their FSSC22000 certification, Schreuder has ensured that the high standards at Plastform will be driven and monitored daily so that Plastform continues to meet the needs and demands of current and future customers.
