Quality is key across all Astrapak manufacturing facilities with significant focus being on aligning themselves with the Astrapak Group’s principles. In recognition of this continuous challenge, Plastech East London was recently audited by Intertek for the first stage audit for FSSC22000 and received the green light to proceed to Stage II.
Food Safety accreditation certification provides a process by which the company can have their Product Safety Quality Management System audited and approved by an Accredited Certification Authority as being in compliance with International Standards.
“Food-borne illnesses can be detrimental to human health, as well as damage a company’s reputation and its bottom line, and Food Safety management is more important than ever before due to the increased demand for safe food as a result of globalisation and international trade,” said Margi Deetlefs, Quality Manager at Plastech East London.
“Being Food Safety accredited upskills the labour force and makes them more aware of what is required for a healthy and safe production environment, which then cultivates a chain reaction of good hygiene practices to be instilled in the home place, which in turn sets good clean living standards for our future generation,” she said.
Plastech East London currently supplies bottles for the pharmaceutical sector as well as over-the-counter personal care PET bottles to high-end customers. Quality accreditation is of the utmost importance and the customers have high expectations of their suppliers when it comes safety, quality and accreditation, and they demand exceptional manufacturing principles. This is where Plastech operates within the market offering peace of mind and assurance to the entire supply chain it serves.
